Overview
The Sharp Home™ (“the app”) is a kitchen management app for iOS and Android. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data is collected and how it is used.
Data We Collect
Purchase Information
We use RevenueCat to process in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat collects:
- Purchase transaction identifiers
- Subscription status
- A device identifier used to restore purchases
This data is linked to your device and used solely to manage your subscription. We do not have access to your Apple ID, Google account, payment method, or billing information.
Recipe Generation
When you request AI-powered recipe suggestions, the list of ingredients in your pantry (names, quantities and units) and the app’s language are sent through our server to Anthropic’s API (Claude) to generate recipe ideas. This data is:
- Sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection
- Not stored on our servers
- Not linked to your identity
To prevent abuse, our server briefly keeps your network (IP) address in memory to limit how many requests can be made per hour. It is not written to our database.
Anonymous Usage Events (from version 1.0.5)
To understand which features are useful and where the app can be improved, the app sends anonymous usage events to our server, for example “app opened”, “recipe saved”, “meal cooked” or “paywall viewed”. Each event includes:
- The event name and the time it happened
- A random ID created by the app on your device. It is not your name, email, advertising ID or any account ID, and it resets if you uninstall the app
- Your platform (iOS or Android), the app version and the app language
- For some events, a short detail such as whether a plan is monthly or annual
Usage events never include your pantry contents, recipes, meal plans, notes, name, email or location. They are not linked to your identity, not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to track you across other apps or websites. Events are deleted automatically after 400 days.
Usage events are not sent from development or test builds of the app.
Data We Do Not Collect
- Your name, email address, or any account information (the app has no login)
- Your location
- Your contacts or calendar
- Photos or camera access
- Health or fitness data

Our server and database may be located outside Canada, including in the United States.
Data Retention
All app data (pantry inventory, meal plans, recipes) is stored locally on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app. We do not store it on our servers.
Anonymous usage events are kept on our server for up to 400 days and then deleted automatically. Because they are not linked to your identity, we cannot look them up by name or email; uninstalling the app resets the random ID.
Children’s Privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
